May Flowers Bring Senior and UWW Junior Nationals for Sun Devils

CORALVILLE, IA -- Eight Sun Devil wrestlers are set to open their offseason at the United World Wrestling Junior and Senior Nationals this weekend (April 30-May 2) in Coralville, Iowa at the Xtream Arena and GreenState Family Fieldhouse hosted by USA Wrestling. 

The event serves as a qualification process for the 2021 U.S. Senior World Team in men's freestyle, women's freestyle and Greco-Roman, which is scheduled in Oslo, Norway, Oct. 2-10. The top five place winners in each weight class will advance to the 2021 World Team Trials Sept. 3-5 at a site to be announced. This event also has implications for the 2021 Pan American Championships in Guatemala City, May 27-30.

For the men's freestyle and Greco-Roman contestants , the champion in both categories of weight classes will compete for the USA at the 2021 UWW Junior World Championships in Ufa, Russia August 16-22. There are also qualifying implications for the 2021 Pan American Junior Championships in Buenos Aires, Argentina, June 9-13 and the 2021 Junior Pan American Games in Cali, Colombia, Sep.t 15-18.

Fans can expect to watch 2021 All-American Jacori Teemer in the senior men's freestyle 74 kilogram weight class. Sun Devil Alumni Josh Kramer (61 kg) and Joshua Shields (74 kg) will also wrestle at the senior men's freestyle event. 

Chad Porter will represent the Sunkist Kids Wrestling Club as the lone Greco-Roman wrestler at 97kg. 

Competing in the junior men's freestyle wrestling events will be Josh Nummer (86 kg), Trey Munoz (79 kg), Ethan Pickren (65 kg), with three -- Cleveland Belton, Julian Chebove and Jesse Vasquez -- rounding out the 61 kg weight class.   

Fans will have the chance to watch the action this weekend, as it will be streamed live on Flowrestling.org with live results on FloArena. Coverage gets underway with Greco-Roman at 9 a.m. MST on Friday.
