By Kathryn Vargas

In our newest addition to the Feature Friday Series, we chat with freshman and Quebec native Donna Ntambue. Before coming to the University of Utah, Ntambue attended Niagara Prep in Montreal, where she played basketball and ran track. She continued to be a two-sport athlete when she arrived at Utah, competing with both women's basketball and the track & field team. Prior to joining the Utes, Ntambue won seven track events from 2017-18 and competed in both the U.S. and Canada.

Ntambue is very connected to her family, and attributes her successes to her parents Antoine and Daniel. Her seven siblings have also played an important role in helping her become the person she is today. Ntambue recalls growing up with her family, admiring her older siblings as they succeeded in athletics, attended university and wanting the same for herself. She also highlights the importance of self-discipline, perseverance, hard work and is thankful and proud of where she is today.

Ntambue hopes to become a professional athlete in the future and for that, wanted to branch out of Montreal. She felt that moving to a different place would allow her to have more opportunities to succeed in her sports. Although moving came with some hardships, Ntambue is willing to work through the difficulties of being away from her family and adapting to a new environment to continue her education and athletic training in the United States.

One of the things Ntambue misses the most from Montreal is her family, as well as the comfort of speaking French and eating Canadian foods and home cooked meals. Ntambue looks forward to her future at the U and is excited to embark on new experiences as a student-athlete.
