Odighizuwa Picked in Third Round of NFL Draft
Osa Odighizuwa was the first Bruin off the board in the 2021 UCLA NFL Draft Class presented by @theParkingSpot. The defensive lineman was selected on Friday by the Dallas Cowboys in the third round with the 75th overall selection.
Odighizuwa started 30 games, including the final 27 straight contests of his career at UCLA. He totaled 27.5 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks for his career. The Portland, Ore. native posted a career-best nine tackles in a 2019 game against San Diego State in which he also produced a career-high 3.0 tackles for loss.
Last season, Odighizuwa led Bruin linemen and placed sixth overall on the team with 30 tackles. He rated fifth in the Pac-12 in sacks per game (0.57) and was 13th in the league in tackles for loss per game (0.86). His total of 4.0 sacks was second on the squad. Odighizuwa was credited with a season-best six tackles in games against Colorado and Arizona State and had at least four tackles in five of the seven 2021 contests. Odighizuwa recorded a season-high 2.5 tackles for loss in the win over California. He was a consensus first-team All-Pac-12 selection.
Osa's brother, Owa, also played defensive line for the Bruins and was a third-round selection by the N.Y. Giants in the 2015 NFL Draft. Osa becomes the seventh Bruin defensive lineman selected in the last nine NFL drafts, with each being selected in the first four rounds.
