Mikayla Coelho Extended Her Hitting Streak To 11 Games On Sunday

TUCSON - The California softball team lost at No. 9 Arizona, 11-1, in five innings Sunday afternoon at Hillenbrand Memorial Stadium.

The Golden Bears fell to 16-14, 3-8 on the year. 

The Wildcats scored in the first inning for the second straight game, notching a two-run homer in the opening frame. 

Arizona broke the game open with a nine-run second. 

Mikayla Coelho singled in the first, extending her hitting streak to a current team-best 11 games. Coelho also earned an RBI in the top of the fifth with a sacrifice fly that scored Sabrina Nunez. Nunez singled and stole second prior to crossing home plate. 

Sophie Medellin earned Cal's other hit on the day. 

The Bears return to action on Wednesday, May 5, at 4 p.m. with a mid-week contest at Stanford from Smith Family Stadium. The non-conference game will be the rubber match between the Bears and the Cardinal for the 2021 season after the squads split two non-conference meetings earlier this season.
