Ducks Earn At-Large NCAA Selection

May 3, 2021

EUGENE, Ore. – For the eighth time in program history, the Oregon men's tennis team has earned a spot in the NCAA Division I Tennis Championship as announced Monday. The Ducks, an at-large selection, will face Alabama in a first-round matchup Saturday at 9 a.m. (PT) at the Hurd Tennis Center in Waco, Texas.

The program will be making its fifth NCAA appearance under head coach Nils Schyllander who previously guided Oregon to the national tournament in 2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018.

"It was probably the last at-large bid called," Schyllander said. "We all knew we deserved to be in but it got a little tight there. I could feel the group tense up but our name got called, and we're really excited to get down to Waco. This has been our main goal all season and I'm proud of how the boys have stayed on course."

In addition to the Ducks and Alabama, the Waco site features No. 2 overall seed Baylor and Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. The winner of Saturday's matches will then play for a spot in the Round of 16.
