Grab Those Dancing Shoes! #33 ASU to Face #38 Mississippi State in Austin Regional

TEMPE - Tickets punched! For the 33rd-consecutive season, ASU women's tennis is heading to the big dance under head coach Sheila McInerney. The No. 33 Sun Devils are heading to Austin, Texas and the Longhorns' campus to open post-season play against No. 38 Mississippi State Friday at noon (10 a.m. MST). A win will set up ASU to play the winner of Texas/Denver Saturday at 3 p.m.

The Sun Devils are 1-0 all-time against the Bulldogs, 2-0 against Denver, and 10-17 against Texas. ASU has reached the second round of the tournament five times in the last decade, but the Maroon and Gold haven't advanced to a third match since 2004.
 
The Sun Devil lineup features a dual-threat in freshman Marianna Argyrokastriti and two-time doubles All-American senior Lauryn John-Baptiste. Argyrokastriti leads the team with a 14-5 record and she's riding a four-match winning streak heading into the tournament. LJB is 11-6 on the year and is also on a four-match streak.
 
ASU (14-8, 6-3 Pac-12) is coming off the Pac-12 Tournament where the Maroon and Gold earned a 4-3 victory over No. 36 USC in the opening round before taking a 4-2 loss to No. 5 UCLA.
 
The Bulldogs are 11-12 on the year and played to a 2-11 conference record.  MSU opened the SEC Tournament with a 4-3 victory over Alabama before being shutout 4-0 to Tennessee. Emma Antonaki has a slight lead in the singles records, pacing the lineup with 13 wins. Four Bulldogs have at least a dozen victories with less than five losses.
