Turner Named UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week
LOS ANGELES – Reilyn Turner from UCLA Women's Soccer has been selected the UCLA Student-Athlete of the Week, presented by Ready, earning honors for April 27 – May 3.
Turner scored two goals in the final 5 minutes of the game to turn a 1-0 Iowa lead into a 2-1 UCLA victory in the NCAA second round. She scored the equalizer at 84:47, sending a shot that went through the goalkeeper's hands into the back of the net. The winning goal was scored with 30 seconds left in regulation, as Turner shot from the top of the box to the lower left corner, beating the Iowa goalkeeper. The Pac-12 Freshman of the Year leads the conference with 11 goals and 26 points. She has recorded nine goals and two assists in UCLA's last nine games and has three multiple-goal games this season.
It's the first-career Student-Athlete of the Week award for Turner. The women's soccer team continues its NCAA Tournament run with a matchup against Clemson on Wednesday, May 5 in the Round of 16.
