CORVALLIS, Ore. -- In a game that started like yesterday's slow offensive showing, Sun Devil Softball had a thing or two to say in today's rewrite. Arizona State (32-13, 12-8) found themselves down 1-0 through four innings yet activated a knockout four-run inning in the fifth to secure the win, 5-2, against Oregon State (17-24, 4-16) on Saturday afternoon.
Lindsay Lopez earned her 16th start this season and pitched 5.1 innings with eight strikeouts, a new single-game high for the sophomore. Allison Royalty entered in relief, tagging the save, throwing one strikeout in 1.2 innings pitched.

Neither squad could get much going through three innings especially as Lopez threw five-straight strikeouts in the second and third. The Beavers struck first in the bottom of the fourth.
Two innings later in the top of the fifth, the ASU momentum train finally left the station. Rookie Savannah Price gave the all aboard signal, hitting a single to right field that advanced the walked Denae Chatman to second base. Bella Loomis laid down a fielder's choice sacrifice bunt that loaded the bases with All-American leadoff hitter Kindra Hackbarth at the plate.
Hackbarth singled to left center, bringing pinch runner Emily Cazares home for the game-tying run. Next in the lineup, Jazmine Hill took the loaded bases scenario to her advantage, knocking a shot to deep right field that brought home Price. Things continued to unravel for the Beavers as their mound boss threw a wild pitch that allowed Loomis time to run home. The RBI singles kept flowing as Maddi Hackbarth notched another one to call Hill home and extend the lead to 4-1.

The Beavers saw their greatest chance to even the score in the top of the fifth, but Lopez said 'easy, eager beaver.' The sophomore battled her way out of a bases loaded jam, serving two-straight looking strikeouts to protect the lead.
