LOS ANGELES - Senior Rachel Garcia struck out two in four shutout innings, adding two hits and two RBI at the plate, while junior Delanie Wisz went 3-for-3 with three RBI and a home run, as the second-ranked Bruins completed a four-game sweep of Stanford with an 8-0, five-inning win on Sunday at Easton Stadium.
Garcia (12-0) allowed just three hits, posting 1-2-3 innings in the first and second. Sophomore Megan Faraimo struck out two in a 1-2-3 fifth inning. At the plate, six different Bruins combined for their nine hits.
UCLA (38-3, 16-2 Pac-12) scored four times in the first. Junior Aaliyah Jordan led off with a single, moved to second on a bunt by junior Briana Perez and scored on a single by Garcia. Wisz followed with a double to get Garcia to third, with a single from freshman Maya Brady plating Garcia to make it 2-0. Sophomore Anna Vines then singled to score Wisz with the Bruins' third run, and when the throw in got away, Brady came home to make it 4-0.
In the third, Garcia drew a walk and came home on Wisz's 10th home run of the season to make it 6-0.
UCLA tacked on two more in the fourth. Senior Jenavee Peres led off with a single, and was pinch-run for by freshman Taylor Edwards, who moved to second on a Jordan walk and to third on a fielder's choice. Another Garcia single scored Edwards to up the lead to 7-0. Wisz then recorded her third hit and RBI with a single to score Perez to make it 8-0.
The Bruins head to Tucson next weekend for a four-game series at Arizona. Game one will be Thursday, May 13 at 7 p.m. and will air on Pac-12 Network.
