Virginia Rallies Past Men’s Tennis

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Falling by a tight margin in the second round of the NCAA Tournament, No. 21 Stanford men's tennis was rallied past by No. 5 Virginia, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Cardinal led early after a pair of doubles wins on courts two and three. Trailing 1-0, Stanford got 6-4 wins from the pairs of Tristan Boyer and Timothy Sah and Arthur Fery and Alexandre Rotsaert to take a 1-0 lead in the match.
 
Virginia shifted momentum in singles play with wins on courts 4-6 to take a 3-1 lead. Axel Geller fended off his opponent in a tiebreaker on court one to keep Stanford alive, and Arthur Fery scored a three-set, come from behind victory at No. 2, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.
 
Facing another tiebreaker, Boyer came just short of tying the match, falling 7-5 in his third set.
