Baseball Sweeps Northern Colorado

OGDEN – Utah baseball completed the sweep over Northern Colorado with a 12-3 victory on Monday afternoon at Lindquist Field.
 
The Utes racked up 12 runs on 15 hits for the sweep over Northern Colorado. Everyone in the starting lineup got a hit with Christopher Rowan, Jr. leading the way going 3-4 scoring three runs and having one RBI.
 
Randon Hostert pitched 5.2 innings and had a career high nine strikeouts. He only allowed one earned run on six hits. His record moved to 2-0.
 
With the game tied after three innings, the Utes got the bats going scoring 10 runs over the next three innings. They scored three in the fourth, three in the fifth and four in the sixth to really break the game open. Eight of Utah's nine starters had an RBI and three players had multiple RBI.
 
Dustyn Schramm came in for Hostert and pitched 2.1 innings not allowing a hit. Zac McCleve pitched the ninth to get the 13th win of the season for Utah.
 
Utah moves its record to 13-26 after the sweep over the Bears.

Now, Utah has a busy week ahead with four more games this week. The Utes start out by playing Utah Valley at Smith's Ballpark on May 12 at 6 p.m. They'll then host Oregon this weekend back at Lindquist Field in Ogden beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.
