SIMPSONVILLE, Ky. - Sophomore Emilie Paltrinieri posted a season-low, 4-under 68 in round one of the NCAA Louisville Regional, as the Bruins are in second place after 18 holes at the University of Louisville Golf Club.
Paltrinieri was bogey-free in Monday's opening round, making birdies on the par-5 fourth, par-3 eighth, par-5 13th and par-4 14th holes to go with 14 pars. She is tied for first with Florida State's Amelia Williamson.
As a team, UCLA shot a 3-over 291 and sits five back of Florida State (-2, 286) for first place. The top six teams following Wednesday's final round will advance to the NCAA Championships later this month in Scottsdale, Ariz. The next five teams in the tightly-bunched standings are Michigan State (3rd, +4, 292), Louisville (4th, +5, 293), South Carolina (5th, +7, 295), Auburn (6th, +8, 296) and Texas (7th, +9, 297).
Sophomore Emma Spitz is tied for 17th after 1-over 73. She made three birdies on the par-4 sixth and 11th holes and par-5 ninth, adding two bogeys and a double. Junior Simar Singh is tied for 25th, shooting a 2-over 74. She recorded three birdies on the par-3 eighth and par-5 13th and 17th holes to go with five bogeys. Sophomore Annabel Wilson is tied for 43rd, making a birdie on the par-5 ninth and five bogeys in a 4-over 76. Sophomore Yuki Yoshihara is tied for 87th (+8, 80), making six bogeys and a double.
The Bruins' second round on Tuesday begins at 9:50 a.m. ET/6:50 a.m. PT off the first tee in the order of Yoshihara, Wilson, Singh, Spitz and Paltrinieri. Live scoring will be available here.
