Three Huskies Earn All-Region

May 11, 2021

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Three Huskies earned All-Pacific Region honors from the United Soccer Coaches today. Summer Yates earned First Team honors, while Kaylene Pang and Ameera Hussen earned Second Team.

The three All-Region awards are the most in a single season for the Huskies since 2015, when McKenzie Karas, Kimberly Keever, and Shannon Simon were recognized. 2000 is the only year the Huskies have had more All-Region awards, earning four that year.

Yates is the first Husky to earn All-Region First Team honors since 2010, when Kate Deines did so. This is the 11th All-Region First Team honor in Husky history. Yates is the eighth Husky ever to earn First Team, joining Deines, Tina Frimpong Ellertson, Hope Solo, Tina Thompson, Tara Bilanski, Samantha Obara, and Melanie Brennan. This is Yates' second straight All-Region honor after earning Second Team in 2019. Yates is the first Husky to earn multiple All-Region awards in their careers since Deines did so in 2009 and 2010.

This is also Pang's second career All-Region award, having earned Second Team honors in 2019 as well. Pang is the first Husky defender ever to earn All-Region multiple times in their career. Her two Second Team honors are the first Second Team or higher honors for a defender since Andrea Morelli in 2000.

Hussen earned All-Region for the first time in her career with this year's Third Team award. Hussen is the 27th Husky to earn All-Region honors all-time. This year, Hussen more than doubled her career goal total, scoring five goals to lead the Huskies. She would record 11 points in all, matching her career point total from her first three years as a Husky to give her 22 in her career.
