LOS ANGELES – The Utah track & field team wrapped up its first day at the Pac-12 Track & Field Championships on Friday at Loker Track Stadium.
In the 1500m race, Sophie Ryan ran in the first heat and crossed the finish line at 5:35.49 while Anna Busatto raced in the second heat and posted a mark of 4:40.06. Maya LeBar followed in the 200m dash, clocking in at 24.62 (w 2.7), which was less than a tenth of second from her PR (24.55).
Later on in the 400m hurdles, senior Ruby Jane Mathewson posted a new PR with a mark of 1:01.52 – besting her previous personal best set a week earlier at the Weber State Twilight. Competing in her first conference championship, Bailey Kealamakia registered a 1:03.17 in the first of three heats. Over in the javelin, Regan Crofts had her best throw of the day on her final attempt with a toss of 40.91m (134-02).
With the first day of action wrapped up, Utah now turns its focus towards Saturday where it'll compete in the 100m hurdles, 800m, 400m and 100m prelims.
