Colorado Women In Fourth Through Two Days

LOS ANGELES – The Colorado track and field women's program finds themselves in fourth despite not having competed in the three of the five distance finals through two days of competition here at the 2021 Pac-12 Track and Field Championships.
 
The women put up some major points today in the women's steeplechase as Madie Boreman finished fourth overall in 9:52.11 and freshman Alisa Meraz-Fishbein picked up a point with an eighth-place finish at 10:32.37.
 
The other area that Colorado picked up points was in the completion of the women's heptathlon where Avery McMullen finished seventh with a score of 5,314 points while Jada Green finished just outside of scoring with 5,232 points in ninth. The women both enter the record books as they knocked off the final sub-5,000 mark this season and now sit in ninth and 10th, respectfully, in school history after the javelin implement change.
                   
Colorado also secured points in tomorrow's finals with Micaela Degenero taking the fastest qualifying mark in the women's 800 prelims in 2:04.23. Her time is sixth in school history and a top-20 time in the nation this season. She was joined by Sage Hurta who has the third-best prelim time at 2:06.56, promising at least three team points for the women.
 
Also securing a spot in finals was senior Eriana Henderson who has set herself up for an extremely busy day tomorrow after running 13.68 and qualifying for finals in the 100 hurdles. Henderson will run both the 100 and 400 hurdles tomorrow along with both the 4x100 and 4x400 relays for Colorado.
 
On the men's side, Wyatt Rhoads made a comeback in the men's decathlon to finish fifth overall after finishing the first day in ninth. He scored 6,863 points and led teammates Nick Bianco and Davis Butte who finished in 12th and 13th, respectfully.
 
The CU men also promised themselves three team points tomorrow as Tyler Williams and Ronald Sayles took the final two qualifier positions in tomorrow's 400-meter run final. Williams had the seventh-best time at 46.93 while Sayles was the final qualifier at 47.20.
 
Tomorrows action will be televised live on the Pac-12 Network as finals begin at 4 p.m. MT with the men's 4x100-meter relay. The Buffs have finalists in the women's 1,500, 800, 400 hurdles and 5,000 tomorrow along with both relays. The men have finalists on the track in the 400 and 5,000 along with both relays. The Buffs will also compete in the men's discus, women's high jump and men's pole vault.
