SAN FRANCISCO - Two Oregon State softball players have been named to the 2021 Pac-12 All-Conference teams, the conference announced Sunday morning.
Junior Mariah Mazon and sophomore Frankie Hammoude received first-team honors.
In her third full season, Mazon notched a Pac-12 First Team Selection. This season, Mazon has racked up 13 wins, from 21 starts, with a 2.30 ERA. She tops the conference with 204.0 innings pitched and ranks third with 204 strikeouts. The Tulare, Calif. native has pitched 17 complete games, including six complete-game shutouts. A dual threat, the pitcher has been in the batting lineup for every game this season, hitting third in all but one game. Sitting neck-and-neck with the team's top hitter, Mazon currently sits in second on the team with a .288 batting average, 42 hits, seven doubles, and 23 RBI. She leads with 26 runs and ranks third with five home runs.
Mazon has been honored in the postseason following all three of her full seasons at Oregon State. In 2018, she was named to the All-Conference Third Team in addition to the All-Freshman squad. In 2019, Mazon took home All-Pac-12 Second Team honors. The conference did not give out awards in 2020.
Sophomore first baseman Frankie Hammoude tallied her second Pac-12 award with a First Team selection. Hammoude has started all 46 games with a fielding percentage of .982 with 328 putouts, seven assists, and only six errors. She is batting .360 on the season, leading the team. With a total of 49 hits, the Oakland, Calif. native has tallied four doubles, 17 home runs, and 41 RBI. In addition to leading the team in batting average, home runs, and RBI, she leads with a .765 slugging percentage and a .456 on-base percentage. Hammoude homered four times over the course of Oregon State's series at Utah over the weekend.
