SEATTLE – The #5 Washington Huskies were selected as the 16-seed nationally and will host NCAA Regionals this weekend. This is the 27th consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance for the Huskies. Washington has hosted Regionals in each of the last five years.
Washington will host Michigan, Seattle U, and Portland State in Regionals. Washington will face Portland State first, with that game set for May 21 at 7:30 pm on ESPN3.
Regionals will run May 21-23. If the Huskies advance, Super Regionals will be May 28-30 in Norman, Oklahoma if the Oklahoma Sooners advance out of their Regional.
The Huskies finished the regular season with a 41-11 record, taking second in the Pac-12 at 18-5 in conference play. Washington is 17-1 in Seattle this season, with its only home loss coming to #4 Oregon. In its last 30 home games, Washington is 29-1.
This is the tenth time in Heather Tarr's 15 years with postseason play that the Huskies have hosted Regionals. In that time, Washington is undefeated, going 30-0 in Regionals games played in Seattle. The Huskies are 38-2 in postseason games played in Seattle under Tarr and 63-8 all-time. Washington has only been eliminated from postseason play at home twice: in 1995 and 2002.
