SDA expanding seating capacity for spring sports venues

May 18, 2021

TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Athletics today announced the amount of seating for spring sport venues has been expanded to 50% of available capacity. The increase will allow more fans to purchase tickets for this weekend's NCAA Softball Regional games and for Sun Devil Baseball's final home series next weekend vs. UCLA.

In March, following the approval from the Pac-12 Conference, university presidents, and local health officials, SDA began hosting fans at a limited capacity at home athletic competitions including baseball, soccer, softball, and the football team's final spring practice. Due to the successful implementation of limited fans, in consultation with our campus and health officials, we can safely increase the capacity for our spring sports venues. The return of fans this spring included new COVID-19 related protocols which will continue to be enforced.

NCAA Softball Regional
The No. 15 seed in this year's NCAA Tournament, the Sun Devil softball team will host Southern Illinois, Brigham Young, and Virginia Tech in the Tempe Regional taking place May 20-22 at Farrington Stadium. All-session and single-session tickets will be available to the public on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. First pitch for the Sun Devils is Thursday at 7 p.m. against Southern Illinois.

Baseball
Phoenix Municipal Stadium's capacity increase will include all games for the Sun Devil baseball team's home series finale vs. UCLA next weekend (May 27-29). Fans can continue to purchase advanced single-game tickets for the remainder of the season online or by calling a Sun Devil Ticket Representative at (480) 965-5812. Sun Devil Athletics is working on the stadium inventory and with the City of Phoenix to finalize available locations. Additional seating will be available for purchase later this week.
