NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – USC lacrosse senior Kelsey Huff (Eastport, N.Y.) and graduate attacker Maddie McDaniel (Severna Park, Md.) were each named to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) All-West/Midwest Region First Team on Wednesday, May 19.
It is the second-career selection for both Huff and McDaniel who were each named to respective IWLCA All-Region second teams in 2019; Huff in the West/Midwest Region and McDaniel in the South Region (with James Madison). Both Trojans were also named to the Pac-12's All-Conference first team earlier this month. Huff was chosen as the Pac-12's Midfielder of the Year.
The two selections push USC's all-time total IWLCA All-Region selections to 27 with 14 first-team nods and 13 second-team choices.
In 2021, Huff tied for second on the team in points (42) and led USC with 36 goals to go with six assists. She was 10-for-14 from free position and added 18 draw controls, 15 ground balls, and had seven caused turnovers. McDaniel led the Pac-12 in draw controls and set the USC single-season record for draws with 149. She scored 19 goals and had five assists for 24 points (fifth on the team) and also picked up 12 ground balls with four caused turnovers.
The Trojans (9-7, 6-3 Pac-12) finished the regular season in second place in the final Pac-12 standings. USC took on Colorado and fell by a single goal in the conference tournament semifinals. Ninth-year head coach Lindsey Munday earned her 110th career victory.
