Kaylor, Shaner, Reyes Named NWCA Scholar All-Americans; OSU Earns NWCA Team Scholar All-America Award

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Brandon Kaylor, Jason Shaner, and Ryan Reyes were tabbed National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Scholar All-Americans, the organization announced Thursday.
 
The Oregon State wrestling team ranked 26th in the NWCA Team Scholar All-America awards with a 3.25 GPA. This is the program's third time earning the team award and the first time since 2008.
 
The three wrestlers become the eighth, ninth, and tenth wrestlers in program history to earn the honor, and first since 2016. This is the first honor of their careers for Kaylor, Shaner, and Reyes.
 
Kaylor, a management major, has a cumulative GPA of 3.33 to earn his first honor. The redshirt sophomore started all nine duals at 125 for OSU, going 9-7 overall. He finished third at the Pac-12 tournament and qualified for his first NCAA Championships.
 
Shaner has an OSU GPA of 3.29 to be named an NWCA Scholar All-American. The sociology major finished the year with a 6-1 record, including winning both of his duals that he started. He recorded three major decisions and three decisions on the season.
 
Reyes, a psycology major with a 3.32 GPA, started at 184 in all nine of the Beavers' matches this season. He earned his first NCAA qualification this season, along with earning second-place in the Pac-12 tournament.
