LOS ANGELES - Junior Delanie Wisz hit a pair of home runs, senior Rachel Garcia and junior Briana Perez also went yard and sophomore Megan Faraimo struck out 11, as the second-ranked Bruins opened up the Los Angeles Regional with an 8-0, five-inning victory over Long Beach State on Friday at Easton Stadium.

UCLA (42-4) will take on Fresno State, which defeated Minnesota 3-0 earlier on Friday, in a winner's bracket game at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Long Beach State (30-10) faces Minnesota in an elimination game at 4 p.m.

Faraimo (18-3) limited The Beach to two hits and one walk in her five innings. She had 1-2-3 frames in the first, third and fifth, striking out the side in the third and fifth and two apiece in the first and fourth.

The Bruins had five players combine for their seven hits, as Perez and Wisz both posted two.

UCLA scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the first on just one hit. Junior Aaliyah Jordan was hit by a pitch, moved to second on a Perez single and scored when Garcia reached on a fielder's choice, as The Beach committed an error. One out later, a walk to freshman Maya Brady loaded the bases, and one more out later, a free pass to junior Kinsley Washington brought in Perez to make it 2-0.

Three swings brought home five runs in the second. Sophomore Kelli Godin singled to start the inning, stole second and moved to third when Jordan reached on an error. Both came home on Perez's 12th homer of the season to center to make it 5-0. Garcia followed with her 12th bomb to left-center, while Wisz made it three in a row with a shot to left-center, her team-best 13th, to make it 7-0.

Wisz put the Bruins in mercy-rule range with another home run in the fourth, her 14th.
