Incoming Trojans Named to Jordan Brand Classic Roster

May 23, 2021

USC's two incoming freshmen — Clarice Uche Akunwafo and Rayah Marshall — have both landed themselves national honors with their selections to the Jordan Brand Classic roster. Although the game will not be held this year due to coronavirus restriction, Akunwafo and Marshall have the acclaim of being named among 60 elite high school seniors from across the nation.

Already inked as the nation's No. 7 recruiting class, the incoming freshman power pack also were named McDonald's High School all-Americans as they prepare to join the Women of Troy in 2021-22.

Akunwafo  — a 6-foot-6 center from Inglewood, Calf. — and 6-4 guard/forward and Los Angeles native Marshall have already both be named to the Watch List for the 2021 Jersey Mike's Naismith Trophy for High School Girls Player of the Year.

Akunwafo averaged 20.1 points, 12.7 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game at Rolling Hills Prep, while also shooting 56 percent from the floor. Freshly minted as a McDonald's All-American, she is a two-time All-CIF honoree, and her power at the post earned her the nod as the No. 2 center in the nation and No. 21 player overall, according to ESPN.

Another All-CIF regular, Marshall ranks No. 27 in the nation, having averaged 18.1 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 2.4 steals per game at nearby Lynwood High.

The most recent Trojan to be named to the Jordan Brand Classic girls' roster was Angel Jackson in 2019.
