Sanders, Grote, Powell Tabbed For Collegiate National Team

May 24, 2021

SEATTLE - A trio of Huskies have been named to the 2021 USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team, continuing Washington's proud tradition of representing and supporting the U.S. National Team at every opportunity. Marin Grote, Ella May Powell, and Lauren Sanders are three of the 28 players chosen from the NCAA ranks to train in Anaheim, Calif. from June 13-18.

Players on the Collegiate National Team, selected by the U.S. Women's National Team staff and National Team Development Program (NTDP), will work with top volleyball coaches at USAV's Anaheim training center. "Athletes will receive evaluations, feedback and individual development plans," according to USA Volleyball.

Sanders has been a regular on the U.S. Collegiate National Team, having been picked for four different rosters now. Grote was chosen a year ago for the Gold Roster but wasn't able to compete due to the pandemic. Powell also has played on both the U.S. Collegiate National Team in Anaheim in 2019 and the U.S. Junior National Team that competed at the 2019 U20 World Championships.

Powell was named an AVCA All-America First Team selection, while Grote and Sanders were both named AVCA All-Region honorees.

The four teams that made the 2021 Final Four last month will be well represented in Anaheim. In addition to Washington's three athletes, Kentucky will have two players, Texas has three representatives, and Wisconsin has two players.
