SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. - Sophomore Emma Spitz tied for the low round of the day on Monday at the Grayhawk Golf Club, posting a runner-up finish at the NCAA Championships.
Spitz shot a 4-under 68 to post a 72-hole score of 7-under 281, one shot back of Stanford's Rachel Heck (-8, 280). It is the third time a Bruin has finished runner-up at the NCAA Championships (Tiffany Joh, 2008, lost in playoff; Christy Erb, 1991).
Spitz made five birdies in her final round on the par-5 11th and seventh holes and par-4 15th, second and sixth, with just one bogey.
As a team, the Bruins finished 15th (+37, 1,189), shooting a 6-over 294 in their final round.
Sophomore Emilie Paltrinieri recorded a 2-over 74 on Monday, producing three birdies on the par-3 16th and par-5 18th and fourth holes to go with five bogeys. Sophomore Annabel Wilson (T-51, +9, 297) made a pair of birdies on the par-4 ninth and 17th holes, four bogeys and a double in a 4-over 76. Sophomore Yuki Yoshihara (78th, +23, 311) posted two birdies on the par-5 fourth and par-4 14th holes, four bogeys and a double in a 4-over 76. Junior Simar Singh (80th, +28, 316) made a birdie on the par-5 seventh, six bogeys and a double in a 7-over 79.
