UCLA Had 17 Bruins Earn MPSF All-Academic Honors

WOODLAND, Calif. – Seventeen members of the UCLA women's water polo team earned MPSF All-Academic honors in 2021, the league announced today.
The 17 Bruins on the list are highlighted by two three-time, six second-time, and nine first-time honorees.
In order to qualify as an MPSF All-Academic Scholar-Athlete, a student-athlete must have a 3.00-or-better cumulative grade point average (GPA), be no lower than a sophomore in academic standing, and have completed one full academic year at the institution prior to the season for which the award is received.
Senior attacker Lexi Liebowitz (3.691, Danville, Calif./San Ramon Valley HS), and senior attacker Roxy Wheaton (3.348, Walnut Creek, Calif./Las Lomas HS) each earned their third-straight MPSF All-Academic selection.
Junior attacker Bella Baia (3.417, Orange, Calif./Mater Dei HS), junior utility Katrina Drake (3.642, Orinda, Calif./Miramonte HS), junior center Ava Johnson (3.537, Walnut Creek, Calif./Las Lomas HS), redshirt sophomore attacker Alex Peros (3.810, Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach HS), senior defender Myna Simmons (3.291, Orange, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS), and junior defender Bella Wentzel (3.468, Lafayette, Calif./Acalanes HS) each earned MPSF All-Academic honors for the second time in their careers.
The nine Bruins that earned 2021 MPSF All-Academic honors include sophomore center Layne Anzaldo (3.623, Corona del Mar, Calif./Corona del Mar HS), sophomore attacker Brooke Doten (3.774, Davis, Calif./Davis Senior HS), sophomore utility Abbi Hill (3.893, Santa Barbara, Calif./Dos Pueblos HS), sophomore attacker Fiona Kuesis (3.719, Santa Barbara, Calif./San Marcos HS), senior defender Brooke Maxson (3.030, Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill HS), sophomore attacker Kate McCarthy (3.011, San Anselmo, Calif./Sir Francis Drake HS), sophomore attacker Hannah Palmer (3.063, Irvine, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS), redshirt sophomore goalkeeper Georgia Phillips (3.025, Fresno, Calif./Clovis North), and sophomore goalkeeper Quinn Winter (3.358, Laguna Beach, Calif./Laguna Beach HS).
