Schrage Punches Ticket to NCAAs on Day One of West Prelims

Harrison Schrage finished fourth in the long jump at the NCAA West Preliminaries, securing qualification to the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

College Station, Texas – Harrison Schrage headlined the Bruins' performances on day one of the NCAA West Preliminaries, punching his ticket to the NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 9-12) in the long jump.
 
Schrage earned his qualification to the National Meet with a fourth-place finish in the long jump, clearing 7.96m (26-01.50) with a wind mark of +2.1. It will be the first appearance in an individual event at Nationals for Schrage, who competed on the Bruins' 4x100m relay squad at the 2019 NCAA Championships.
 
Ismail Turner notched a lifetime-best time of 46.05 in the 400m, finishing second in his heat to advance to Saturday's quarterfinal. Turner's performance came on the heels of his third-place finish at the Pac-12 Championships on May 16, where he clocked a then-personal-best 46.09.
 
Jacob Wilson just missed a qualifying spot in the shot put, finishing 15th overall with a toss of 18.94m (62-01.75). He was just three positions away from the 12th and final qualifying mark.
 
Tate Curran finished tied for 33rd in the men's pole vault competition, posting a clearance of 5.15m (16-10.75).
 
Kenroy Higgins II crossed in sixth place in his heat in the first round of the 100m, clocking a wind-aided time of 10.44. He finished 35th overall in the event. Higgins II would go on to finish eighth in his 200m heat, crossing with a time of 21.25.
 
Day Two – NCAA West Preliminaries
Day two of the West Prelims will feature the first set of women's track & field events. Thursday's action kicks off with the women's hammer and javelin competitions at 11:30 a.m. PT. The first event on the track will be the women's 100m hurdles at 4:00 p.m. PT.
