Altman Signs Forward Quincy Guerrier

May 27, 2021

EUGENE, Ore. — The Oregon men's basketball team has officially added 6-foot-7 forward Quincy Guerrier to its 2021-22 roster, head coach Dana Altman announced on Thursday.

Guerrier joins the Ducks after playing his freshman and sophomore seasons at Syracuse. He was a third-team all-ACC selection for the Orange in 2020-21, averaging 13.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game while shooting 49.3 percent from the floor.

"We are excited to bring Quincy into our program," said Altman. "He is a physical player and his versatility offensively will allow him to play a number of different positions for us. I also love what he'll give us defensively and on the boards. I think he has a very bright future and we're looking forward to working with him."

Guerrier owns 11 career double-doubles, including eight as a sophomore. He posted 18 points and a career-high 16 rebounds on Dec. 16, 2020, vs. Northeastern, and followed that up with a career-high 27 points and 11 rebounds in Syracuse's next game vs. Buffalo. In the Orange's second game of the season vs. Niagara, Guerrier went 9-of-10 from the floor for 23 points and pulled down 13 rebounds. He grabbed double-digit rebounds nine times in 2020-21, including five games with at least 13 boards.

The Montreal, Quebec, native will also add a strong defensive presence for the Ducks. He had at least one blocked shot 18 times in 2020-21, with four-or-more blocks on four different occasions. Guerrier also recorded multiple steals five times as a sophomore.

Guerrier will bring NCAA Tournament experience to Oregon, reaching the Sweet Sixteen with the Orange in March as a No. 11 seed. He had 12 points and seven rebounds in a second-round win over West Virginia while matching his career-high with five blocked shots.

Guerrier averaged 6.9 points and 5.3 rebounds as a freshman in 2019-20. He recorded his first career double-double vs. Penn State with 13 points and 10 rebounds, and scored a season-high 16 points vs. NC State while grabbing 10 boards. Guerrier shot 49.7 percent from the floor during his debut season.

Guerrier went to Syracuse from Thetford Academy, where he averaged 24.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game in 2018-19. During the summer of 2016, Guerrier competed for the Canadian Under-17 World Cup Team.
