Noennig and Meisberger Advance at NCAA West Prelims

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Arizona Track and Field closed out day two of the NCAA West Prelims on Thursday where Samantha Noennig and Shannon Meisberger picked up qualifying marks and times. 

Samantha Noennig punched her ticket to Eugene after finishing second in the shot put with a mark of 17.90m (58-8.75). She will compete again on Saturday in the discus.

Shannon Meisberger's second place finish and time of 56.65 in the 400m hurdles will advance her to the quarterfinals. She will race again on Saturday at 5:55 p.m.

Neysia Howard clocked a PR of 11.55 in the 100m and ran a time of 23.98 in the 200m. She will race again on Saturday as a part of the 4x400 relay team.

Katie Daily cleared 3.92m (12-10.25) in the women's pole vault to close out her season.

The men's side will be back for day three on Friday, opening with field events where Justice Summerset will appear in the high jump and Jordan Geist and Jakob Chamberlin will throw in the discus. The quarterfinal rounds of men's track events will take place later in the afternoon where four Wildcats will be competing. 

Victor Ortiz-Rivera advanced to the quarterfinals in the 1500m on Wednesday, crossing the finish line in seventh place with a time of 3:45.00. He will race again at 3:45 p.m. MST.

Johnnie Blockburger and Umajesty Williams both clocked qualifying times in the 400m on Wednesday. Blockburger ran a time of 45.95 to finish ninth followed by Williams in 11th with a time of 46.08. The duo will compete in the quarterfinals at 5:20 p.m.

Calvin Wilson's PR time of 51.24 in the 400m hurdles was good to advance him to Friday's 5:55 p.m. quarterfinal race.
