Robin Hanson Heading To Tokyo

2021 Cal signee Robin Hanson will swim the 200-meter freestyle for Sweden at the Tokyo Olympics.

BERKELEY – California men's swimming signee Robin Hanson will compete for Sweden at the Tokyo Olympics this summer, as he was selected to the 2021 team by the Swedish Olympic Committee on Wednesday.
 
Hanson – who signed with the Golden Bears in November 2020 and will start competing for Cal this fall – will swim the 200-meter freestyle for Sweden in Tokyo. The 20-year-old swam 1:46.50 in the 200 free semifinals before taking seventh in the finals (1:47.34) at the 2021 European Championships on May 21 in Budapest, Hungary.
 
Hanson currently ranks 13th in the 200 free among those qualified for Tokyo. It will be 20-year-old Hanson's Olympic debut. The Swedish Olympic Committee's announcement of four new members to its Olympic roster can be read here.
