Men's Golf Falls to Top-Ranked Oklahoma 3-2 in Semifinals

Jun 1, 2021

The Sun Devil men's golf team lost a close semifinal match to top-ranked Oklahoma 3 & 2 Tuesday afternoon after topping North Carolina 3-1-1 in the quarterfinals in the morning.

ASU got wins from Chun An Yu and Ryggs Johnston in both matches and also got a great win from Mason Andersen in the morning match. It marked the Sun Devils best NCAA finish since it won the NCAA title in 1996.

"I'm so disappointed but at the same time this is competition," Sun Devil Head Coach Thurmond said. "They just made one more putt, one more good shot than we did. In a couple days I think we'll feel a lot better. We had a great season."
