Wildcats Win Tucson Regional Opener, Move On In Winners Bracket

TUCSON, Ariz. — The Cats piled up 17 hits in their postseason debut at Hi Corbett field Friday night, to defeat the Grand Canyon Antelopes by a final score of 12-6. 

Tony Bullard and Tanner O'Tremba led the way for Arizona, with Bullard striking first for the Cats with a home run in the 2nd inning and O'Tremba slamming a go-ahead two-run home run in the 6th inning to put the Cats up 6-4. 

LHP Riley Cooper came into the game in the 4th inning with runners on the corners and no outs, managing to escape the inning unharmed.

Kobe Kato had three hits on the night, including a triple in the 3rd inning and a bases-loaded 2 RBI single in the 8th to add to Arizona's lead. The Cats would go on to tack on two additional runs thanks to a Tyler Casagrande bunt single and a Nik McClaughry bases-loaded walk. 

Dawson Netz would come in to close the game for the Cats, sending them home with a win and a Saturday night matchup against UC Santa Barbara.
