Forde Sixth, Huske Sets Record

Jun 13, 2021

OMAHA, Neb. – An American record time of 55.78 advanced Torri Huske to the finals of the 100m fly of the U.S. Olympic Team Trials, Sunday at the CHI Health Center.

Huske, an incoming freshman from Arlington, Va., grabbed the top spot in the semifinals in an American and US Open record time to advance to the finals of the event. She was followed by fellow incoming freshman Regan Smith (57.73) in sixth to advance to the finals, while Lillie Nordmann – a third incoming freshman as part of Stanford's standout recruiting class the past two years – was 13th in the semifinals in 58.54.

Both Nordmann and Smith signed with the Cardinal in 2019, but deferred enrollment for a year due to complications from the pandemic.

The finals of the 100m fly will be held tomorrow night, with events starting at 5 p.m. PT.

Senior Brooke Forde reached the finals of the 400m IM, where she took sixth in 4:38.69. Forde, the reigning NCAA champion in the event, will return to action on June 15 with the 200 free and 200 IM.

The Cardinal will be represented in the 100m breast, 100m back and 400m free tomorrow.
