USC Alumnus Micah Christenson Named To U.S. Men's Volleyball Team's 2020 Olympics Roster

Setter Micah Christenson, an All-American first teamer at USC in 2014 and 2015, has been named to the 12-player roster for the U.S. men's volleyball team that will compete at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. 
 
This will be Christenson's second Olympic appearance.  He was the starting setter at the 2016 Rio Games for a U.S. squad that won a bronze medal. 
 
This will be the 21st time that a Trojan men's volleyball player has played in an Olympic Games. 
 
The U.S. men are currently ranked No. 3 in the world. 
  
The men's volleyball tournament at the 2020 Olympic Games, which were postponed for a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, begins on July 24. 
 
Christenson, who came to USC from Honolulu, led the Trojans to the 2012 NCAA Final Four as a freshman when he was the National Newcomer of the Year.  He then won the Lloy Ball Award, given to the nation's top collegiate setter, as a 2014 junior and 2015 senior. 
 
Christenson has played with the U.S. Men's National Team since his junior year at USC (at age 20, he was the youngest starting setter to ever compete for the team). 
 
In addition to the 2016 Olympic bronze medal, he also led the U.S. to a gold medal at the 2013 and 2017 NORCECA Championship, 2014 FIVB World League and 2015 FIVB World Cup, a silver at the 2015 NORCECA Champions Cup and 2019 FIVB World League and a bronze at the 2015 FIVB World League, 2018 FIVB World Championship and FIVB Nations League and 2019 FIVB World Cup. 
 
He was named the MVP at the 2017 NORCECA Championship, Best Setter at the 2013 NORCECA Championship, 2015 FIVB World Cup, 2018 FIVB World Championship and 2019 FIVB Nationals League and FIVB World Cup and Best Server at the 2013 NORCECA Championship. 
 
He plays professionally with Zenit-Kazan in Russia after stints in Italy with Cucine Lube Civitanova and Modena Volley.  He led Cucine Lube Civitanova to silver medals at the 2017 FIVB Club World Championship and 2018 CEV Champions League and championships in the 2017 Italian Cup and Italian Championship, and he also led Modena Volley to the championship of the 2019 Italian Supercup.
