SEATTLE - The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its postseason regional awards today, with Vanessa Wong picking up a big honor, as she was named the Northwest Region Senior Player of the Year. It's the first time a Husky has won that honor since 2005. Wong, an All-Pac-12 First Team selection, plans to return for another season of eligibility in 2021-22.
Wong, a native of Toronto, compiled a 18-5 singles record this season and finished the year with a career-high No. 23 singles ranking. She participated in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championships.
She posted eight wins over players ranked in the final singles poll, and went 10-2 against Northwest Region opposition.
Wong is the first Husky to win ITA Northwest Region Senior Player of the Year honors since Dea Sumantri in 2005.
