Women’s 4x400m Relay Squad Named UCLA Student-Athletes of the Week

Jun 15, 2021

LOS ANGELES – Meleni Rodney, Makenzy Pierre-Webster, Kate Jendrezak, and Shae Anderson have been selected the UCLA Student-Athletes of the Week, presented by Ready, earning honors for June 8 – June 14.

The quartet of Bruins combined to set a new school record in the women's 4x400m relay, clocking a time of 3:25.01 at the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore., on Saturday, June 12. It was the eighth-fastest time in collegiate history and marked the first sub-3:26.00 time in UCLA history. The squad finished third at the National Meet and earned First-Team All-America honors.

Saturday's performance from Rodney, Pierre-Webster, Jendrezak, and Anderson capped an historic weekend for the relay team. On Thursday, the same four Bruins posted a time of 3:27.68 in the preliminary heats, good for the then-second-fastest time in program history. The team's 3:25.01 mark bettered the previous school record of 3:27.57 set in 2003 by Sani Roseby, Sheena Johnson, Adia McKinnon, and Monique Henderson.

It's the first-career Student-Athlete of the Week for each of the aforementioned student-athletes.
