Anna Cockrell, winner of both the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles at the 2021 NCAA Track & Field Championships, has been named to The Bowerman 2021 Women's Semifinalist List, announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) today (June 16).
Cockrell, from Charlotte, N.C., became just the second woman athlete to win both the 100m hurdles and 400m hurdles in the same season at the NCAA Championships meet to help lead USC to its second team title in the last three seasons. She won the 100m hurdles with a time of 12.58 and the 400m hurdles with a time of 54.68 on June 12. Her winning 400m hurdles time broke her school record, ranks seventh on the all-time Pac-12 list and made it two consecutive national titles in the event for Cockrell. Cockrell had a PR of 12.54 in the 100m hurdles semifinals which ranks third on USC's and the Pac-12's all-time list.
The 2021 Pac-12 Women's Scholar Athlete of the Year was also a two-time winner at the Pac-12 Championships grabbing both the hurdles titles. Cockrell won her third consecutive Pac-12 400m hurdles title with a then-PR, USC-record and NCAA-leading time of 54.77. She also matched a then-season best with a time of 12.79 (+0.0) to win the women's 100m hurdles title.
