TUCSON, Ariz. - No. 16 Arizona had the first pick in the ITA draft after a phenomenal season including a Sweet Sixteen run in the NCAA Championships. The Wildcats selected College Station to compete at for the ITA Kickoff Weekend in January. The three teams competing in College Station include the host team, No. 8 Texas A&M, with No. 24 Texas Tech and Pac-12 rival No. 25 UCLA.
The Wildcats won their last matchup against No. 24 Texas Tech in the 2019 season with a narrow 4-3 victory. Arizona holds a 3-6 overall record against the Red Raiders. No. 25 UCLA fell to the Wildcats in a thrilling home victory to mark the second win in program history over the Bruins. The Wildcats were 1-72 against the Bruins before the match. No. 8 Texas A&M had a good tournament run in the 2021 season by making it to the quarterfinals before falling to the eventual national champions in the Florida Gators.
Arizona went 21-8 in the 2021 season leading up to the ITA draft, marking one of the best years in program history behind record-breaking senior Alejandro Reguant, Gustaf Strom who was the ITA Southwest Rookie of the Year, and junior Jonas Ziverts who was ranked in ITA singles for the whole season.
