UCLA head women's volleyball coach Michael Sealy has announced the addition of graduate transfer Shelby Martin (Waxahachie, Texas) to the fall 2021 roster. Martin, who comes to Westwood after spending the fall 2020/spring 2021 season at Kansas State, will have one year of eligibility remaining.

"We are very excited for Shelby to join us for graduate school and her last season," Sealy said. "She comes from a great conference and has shown the ability to run a great offense and compete at a very high level."

Martin was named All-Big 12 Conference Second Team, starting 15 of the 16 matches she appeared in. She recorded 9.50 assists per set, 1.84 digs per set, 11 service aces and 48 kills. Martin posted Kansas State's first triple-double since 2014 when she had 11 kills, 10 digs and 38 assists in a five-set win over Oklahoma to help her earn Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week accolades. She also added three other double-doubles, and produced a season-high 60 assists in her Wildcat debut.

Martin came to Kansas State after spending the previous three seasons at East Carolina (2017-2019), earning '17 American Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year honors and All-AAC Second Team plaudits twice (2017-2018). She had 2,623 career assists with the Pirates, ranking her fourth in East Carolina history, averaging 8.15 per set to go with 1.98 digs per set (636 total). Martin played club with Dallas Skyline Juniors.
