Patricelli Moves Into Javelin Final At Olympic Trials
2020 U.S. Olympic Trials
Eugene, Ore. | Hayward Field
June 18-27, 2021
EUGENE, Ore. - Husky All-American Denham Patricelli, a 2019 graduate competing in his first U.S. Olympic Trials, advanced through to the finals today in the javelin at Hayward Field. Patricelli will take a shot at making Team USA this coming Monday, June 21.
Patricelli was the Pac-12 runner-up his senior season for the Dawgs in 2019, and went on to take eighth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships for First Team All-America honors. Today, Patricelli threw 225-2 on his first attempt and improved to 227-7 on his second attempt, which was good for 10th-place in qualifying, with the top-12 all moving on to the final. The final will begin at 4:15 p.m. Pacific time on Monday.
Also in action today was another former Husky great, 2016 grad Eleanor Fulton. Competing in the semifinals of the women's 1,500-meters, Fulton placed 17th overall in 4:12.07, not quite enough to move on to the final.
Sunday at Hayward will feature the first round of the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase, where senior school record-holder Katie Rainsberger will race along with former school record-holder Mel Lawrence, a 2013 grad. The steeplechase starts at 6:35 p.m.
