EUGENE, Ore. – Two of the fourteen women racing for a spot on Team USA in the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase will be Huskies. Current Husky senior Katie Rainsberger and 2013 grad Mel Lawrence both qualified through to the final today at the Olympic Trials at Hayward Field.

Rainsberger, who just nine days ago took third in the NCAA Championships steeplechase final, ran a time of 9:33.38, a little over one second off the UW school record she ran in that final, to take fourth in tonight's qualifying heat with the top-five advancing. Finishing third just a few seconds ahead of Rainsberger was Lawrence, who held the UW school record from 2009 until Rainsberger broke it this season.

The two Dawgs will now run in the final, with the ultimate goal being a top-three finish. That final will take place this Thursday, June 24, at 8:47 p.m.
