TEMPE, Ariz. -- Head coach Trisha Ford announced the addition of infielder Jazmyn Rollin to the Arizona State Softball program for the 2021-22 season on Wednesday.
Rollin, a native of Salt Lake City, joins the Sun Devil Family as a transfer after two seasons with Missouri. She is the second SEC transfer in as many weeks that ASU has brought into the fold for the upcoming season.
"We're ecstatic to welcome Jaz to Tempe and into the Sun Devil family," Ford said. "She brings experience in multiple infield positions and is a dangerous offensive threat that we love in our lineup. She's a new Sun Devil, but she's already got our DNA."
Rollin brings a proven big bat presence to the Sun Devil roster. She started all 26 games in the shortened 2020 season - making 17 starts at shortstop, a start a second, and eight starts at designated player. She was third on the team with a .364 batting average, going 28-for-77 at the plate. Through 26 games, Rollin scored 27 runs, while adding five doubles, a triple, and a team-high seven home runs for a .364/.495/.727 batting line. As a sophomore, Rollin posted 11 multi-hit games on the year.
Rollin's offensive prowess doesn't stop outside of the batter's box. She's also a threat on the basepaths, going 14-for-16 on stolen base attempts – only three shy of tying her total from 2019, despite playing in half as many games.
During the 2020 season, she was named to the all-tournament team at the NFCA Leadoff Classic, batting in six runs with four extra-base hits on the weekend.
In her freshman campaign, Rollin was named to the SEC's All-Freshman team while she also received national acclaim, as she was one of just 25 freshmen nationwide to earn a spot on the NFCA/Schutt Sports Freshman of the Year Watch List. In addition, Rollin was also named to Softball America's Freshman of the Year Watch List while also taking home SEC Freshman of the Week Honors (March 25) for her performances against Bradley and during Mizzou's road sweep of then-No. 13 Kentucky.
She finished her first-year campaign with staggering numbers, batting .331(49-139) to go along with 43 runs scored, 10 doubles, 10 homers, and 41 RBI. Rollin's unique athleticism was on display all year, as she led the team with her 17 stolen bases, while her 10 home runs were tied for second-most on the squad. She became the first Tiger to post double-digit homers and double-digit stolen bases in the same season since 2016. Despite limited playing time, she did all of this, appearing in 55 of Mizzou's 60 games while only starting in 44 of those games.
Rollin's Trophy Case
- SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll (2020)
- NFCA / Schutt Sports Freshman of the Year - Top 25 Finalist (2019)
- SEC All-Freshman Team (2019)
- SEC Freshman of the Week (2019- Week 3)
Rollin is the second addition to the Sun Devil team since the conclusion of the 2021 season. She joins fellow former-SEC player Jessica Puk, who signed with ASU on June 10, and the incoming freshman class of pitcher Mac Morgan, infielder Cydney Sanders, and catcher Liliana Thomas.
