Britain Covey Named CoSIDA Academic All-American

AUSTIN, Texas – University of Utah all-purpose player Britain Covey has been named a 2020-21 CoSIDA Academic All-America first-team selection, it was announced today. He is one of two student-athletes representing the Pac-12 on the first-team.

The Academic All-America first-team selections were comprised of 25 student-athletes from across the country with a combined GPA of 3.90. This is Covey's first Academic All-America selection after earning a spot on the CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team twice.

Covey is Utah's 19th overall selection to the Academic All-America teams and the 16th individual Ute to earn a spot on the first or second team. He is also Utah's eighth first-team selection in program history, joining Louie Sakoda (2008), current defensive coordinator Morgan Scalley (2003, 2004), Alex Smith (2004), Dick Graham (1976), Steve Odom (1973) and Scott Robbins (1971).

*First-Team Selection

Covey, who is pursuing a degree in business, is a four-time All-Pac-12 selection, earning first-team as a returner in 2018 and 2020. He was a Phil Steele All-America selection in 2020 (HM), also earning Freshman All-America in 2015.

He led Utah in receiving yards in 2015, 2018 and 2020, also ranking fifth all-time in career punt returns (63) and is fourth in career punt return yards (665). He has played in 33 career games with 17 starts.

The Provo, Utah, native is a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District first-team selection, also earning Pac-12 All-Academic three times.
