Jacobs Helps USA U21 Squad to Fifth-Place Finish at Worlds

NETHERLANDS AND BELGIUM - Rising sophomore Allison Jacobs helped the U.S. Women's U21 National Team to a fifth-place showing at the FIVB U20 World Championship. Team USA finished the tournament with a 6-2 record, posting the best finish by a non-European team. 

Jacobs started all eight matches, producing 89 points on 72 kills, 11 blocks and six aces. She posted six contests with double figures in points, including 14 in both the fifth-place match against Poland (July 18) on 12 kills, one block and one ace and the tournament-opening match versus Russia (July 9) on 11 kills, two aces and one block. Jacobs had four matches with double figures in kills (12 vs. Poland, 11 vs. Russia twice - also July 14 and 10 vs. the Netherlands - July 15).

Team USA won its first four matches against Russia, Thailand (July 10), Turkey (July 11) and Brazil (July 13) before falling to Russia and the Netherlands to fall to the fifth-place bracket. The Americans then defeated the Dominican Republic (July 17) before coming back from an 0-2 deficit against Poland to earn fifth place.
