Bears Collect Team Academic Award

California volleyball earned the Team Academic Award for the 2020-21 season from the American Volleyball Coaches Association. The Golden Bears were one of 1,275 teams across all of volleyball to be honored and one of 243 Division I programs to earn the 2020-21 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award. 
 
Cal is one of eight Pac-12 schools to earn the distinction from the AVCA. It is the fourth time the Bears have earned the AVCA Team Academic Award and second consecutive honor. 
 
In order for a team to earn the 2020-21 USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award, the entire team must achieve a minimum team cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.30 (on a 4.00 scale), a 4.10 (on a 5.00 scale) during the 2020-21 academic year. California tallied a 3.46 team GPA during the 2020-21 season, including a 3.47 mark this past spring. 
 
Cal had eight student-athletes earn Pac-12 Fall Academic Honor Roll recognition in 2020-21.
