Watson Named to USA Basketball U23 3x3 Roster
EUGENE, Ore. – Oregon forward Kylie Watson earned one of four spots on USA Basketball's 3x3 U23 Nations League team Friday. Watson and Team USA will play in the final three stops of the FIBA 3x3 U23 Nations League, Aug. 2-4 in Voiron, France.
Watson heads into the event already with quality USA Basketball experience under her belt, winning gold at the 2017 FIBA Americas U16 Championship and taking part in training camp for the 2017 U17 World Cup and 2019 U19 World Cup teams. Each of her three teammates on the 3x3 team, Emily Engstler, Madison Hayes and Hailey Van Lith, also have played with Team USA prior to the U23 Nations League.
As a true freshman at Oregon in 2020-21, Watson played in 18 of the 24 games, averaging 2.2 points and 1.3 rebounds per game. She also shot .552 from the floor and recorded nine blocks while averaging 8.2 minutes per game. Watson reached double figures in scoring twice in her first collegiate season, putting up 11 in 10 minutes off the bench vs. USC on Jan. 1 and scoring a season-high 12 on the road against California.
The Linwood, N.J. native was one of five incoming freshmen for the Ducks to be rated a five-star and ended her career ranked No. 17 overall in the Class of 2020 according to the espnW top 100 rankings. Watson was also a McDonalds All-American and Jordan Brand Classic selection following her senior year at Mainland High School, where she earned New Jersey Gatorade State Player of the Year honors in 2020.
Watson and Team USA will begin training camp for the FIBA 3x3 Nations League event on July 29 in Pittsburgh, before travelling to France to take on countries from throughout Europe and the Americas.
