KANSAS CITY, Mo. – California was recognized with the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2020-21 season, the organization announced Wednesday.
The award program, now in its ninth year, recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher. In order to earn the award, institutions must count the GPA of all student-athletes who competed during the season. Cal – which was one of three Pac-12 schools to receive the 2020-21 honor along with Stanford and Utah – has earned the team academic excellence award in two consecutive years under head coach Mark Fox.
Cal rising senior Andre Kelly also earned Honors Court recognition from the NABC for the 2020-21 season. The NABC Honors Court highlights student-athletes with at least a 3.2 GPA or higher and who are academically a junior or senior varsity player.
