Schalk and Simpson Prepped For 121st U.S. Women’s Amateur
BOULDER — The 121st U.S. Women's Amateur will start on August 2, and a pair of University of Colorado golfers will be in the mix as sophomore Hailey Schalk (Erie, Colo.) and junior Issy Simpson (London, England) earned their spots at the tournament earlier this summer.
The duo qualified on June 30, at the USGA Qualifier at Walnut Creek Golf Preserve in Westminster, Colo. Both tied for second, shooting 2-under (70).
The U.S. Women's Amateur runs August 2-8, at the 6,488-yard, par 72 Westchester Country Club in Rye, N.Y. There will be two rounds of stroke play (August 2-3) and after that, the top 64 players will advance to the match-play portion of the championship. The Golf Channel and Peacock will broadcast the tournament starting with match play on August 4.
Schalk is scheduled to tee off at 12:53 p.m. MT and will start on the first hole, while Simpson will tee off from the tenth hole at 1:56 p.m. on August 2.
