Cal To Face Florida In Fort Myers Tip-Off
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The 2021 Rocket Mortgage Fort Myers Tip-Off Beach Division bracket was announced Thursday, unveiling a semifinal matchup between California and Florida on Monday, Nov. 22.
Joining Cal and Florida on the opposite side of the Beach Division bracket are Ohio State and Seton Hall. Championship and consolation games will be scheduled for primetime on Wednesday, Nov. 24. All Beach Division games will be played at Suncoast Credit Union Arena on the campus of Florida SouthWestern State College and will be televised nationally on FS1. Game times will be announced at a later date.
It will be the third all-time meeting between Cal and Florida, with the Bears winning both prior games on Dec. 27, 1986 at the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, and on Nov. 25, 1988 at the Great Alaska Shootout in Anchorage, Alaska.
Prior to arriving in Fort Myers, all four Beach Division teams will host one of four teams from the tournament's Palms Division. Cal will host Southern Utah at Haas Pavilion on Thursday, Nov. 18. The Golden Bears defeated the Thunderbirds in their one prior meeting, a 75-47 victory at Haas Pavilion on Nov. 18, 2013.
