Huskies Tabbed Fourth in Pac-12 Preseason Poll

Aug 13, 2021

SEATTLE -- The No. 18 Washington women's soccer team was selected fourth in the Pac-12 preseason poll, based on a vote by the conference coaches.

Defending champions UCLA ranked first with seven of 12 possible first place votes. USC and Stanford rounded out the top three, receiving three and two first place votes each.

Last season, the Huskies were tabbed seventh and would wind up finishing third in the conference and advancing to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament.

UW returns the bulk of last season's successful squad, led by a pair of First Team All-Pac-12 performers in forward Summer Yates and midfielder Ameera Hussen.

Head coach Nicole Van Dyke also added a talented group of newcomers, including three transfers with significant power five experience in McKenzie Weinert, Peyton McGee and Kyla Ferry.

The first game of the 2021 season is Thursday, August 19th at 4:00 p.m., with the Huskies traveling to Chapel Hill to take on No. 3/4 North Carolina.

In the preseason polls, UW was ranked No. 18 by TopDrawerSoccer and No. 19 in the United Soccer Coaches poll.
