Non-Conference Schedule and Weekly Pac-12 Pairings Set for 2021-22 Husky Men’s Basketball Season

Aug 19, 2021

SEATTLE – Washington has announced its non-conference schedule along with the Pac-12 Conference release of weekly matchups and site designations for the league's 2021-22 men's basketball season.

Washington's season will begin with a regular season non-conference game vs. Northern Illinois on Nov. 9 in Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion. The Huskies previously announced participation in the Crossover Classic in South Dakota from Nov. 22-24. Two early conference games (at Arizona and vs. UCLA) will break up the non-conference schedule before Washington takes on Gonzaga in Spokane, Wash. on Dec. 12 and then crosstown rivals Seattle U in Alaska Airlines Arena on Dec. 18.

The Pac-12's announcement reflects the games being played and the home/away designations each week of the regular season. Specific dates and times for each game within a week will be announced at a later date once the league's television partners are finalized. All Conference games will be televised by either Pac-12 Network, ESPN/2/U, FOX/FS1 or CBS.

In May, the Conference announced the 12 early conference games and the weekly matchups following the early contests, as well as the new 10-year rotation of annual opponents.

Following the early conference games, the remainder of league play will resume the week of Dec. 29 and conclude March 5 ahead of the 2022 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Tournament at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas from March 9-12.

The Huskies return starters Jamal Bey and Nate Roberts, playmakers Cole Bajema and Riley Sorn, and earlier this year announced the additions of five transfers to the program - Samuel Ariyibi, Terrell Brown Jr., Daejon Davis, Emmitt Matthews Jr., and Langston Wilson. Read the announcements here (Ariyibi/Brown/Matthews, Davis/Wilson). Also joining the Huskies this year is McDonald's All-American and Gatorade Washington Boys Basketball Player of the Year Jackson Grant. Among the new faces to the team are assistant coaches Wyking Jones and former Husky and Pro Dawg Quincy Pondexter, who Head Coach Mike Hopkins named to the coaching staff in the offseason.

The 2020-21 season saw the Pac-12 land a league-record five teams in the final USA TODAY Coaches poll and finish third in the final KenPom.com conference rankings following a 2021 NCAA Tournament in which four league programs advanced to the Sweet 16, three to the Elite Eight and UCLA reached the Final Four.

Washington Husky men's basketball season ticket renewals and deposits are on sale now.
